You may have seen our motto on buses around town: “Families that create together do great together!”
Family Time Rocks! is a band committed to interactive live shows focused on the music created by Sara Hickman and band-mates, Jason Molin and Gray Parsons, demonstrating how fun, easy, and rewarding it is to make music and art with your family. Our first cd, “Family Time Rocks! The Universe” is a collection of music, poetry, and families of different ethnicities speaking or singing short segments in their native tongue (everything from Urdu, Russian, Persian, Portuguese, French, Swahili to Swedish!), discussing fun, creative things they like to do as families so we can encourage others to do the same while educating families worldwide about how alike we are at the same time.
We encourage children to join us on stage and make up songs "on the spot" while we, the band, back them up. For certain events, we also have FAMILY TIME ROCKS! boxes that families decorate & fill with ideas from different "creation stations" to take home and utilize after our shows. We promote creating handmade shakers created from HEB empty cartons (recycled oatmeal, milk, cereal containers; water bottles, etc filled w/rice/beans) that we give the kids at shows so they can dance and make music along with us!
